Known among associates as Tay or CS, he has been based in Suzhou since 2001 with China's largest manufacturer and provider of ESD control and critical environment (CE) solutions, the Canmax Group. 

Tay began his career in the CE industry in 1995 in Malaysia when he was entrusted to set up and operate an ISO class 4 cleanroom laundry. Tay later set up and operated two other cleanroom laundries in China, rendering services to the world's leading names in the HDD, semiconductor, FPD, EMS, and other CE businesses.

A keen learner and a hands-on professional, Tay has learned from experts across a diversity of industries. He is an active member of the IEST working groups and recognizes the importance and need for a more systematic approach to ESD control, particularly in China's massive manufacturing base, hence his decision to participate in the certification program of ESDA.
