EOS/ESD Association, Inc. has been granting awards for more than 35 years by recognizing those who have contributed to excellence in service and outstanding technical achievements in the fields of ESD applications and designs. These recipients include both individuals who have made significant impact to the industry and to EOS/ESD Association, Inc., and, in some cases, corporate organizations that have supported their employees' extensive volunteer participation. The awards are meant to not only recognize highly deserving individuals, but also to inspire others. Organization awards signify the value EOS/ESD Association, Inc. places on the important and critical work of all of our volunteers, recognizing excellence and teamwork.

Awards Committee

The purpose of the Awards Committee is to select candidates for the various EOS/ESD Association, Inc. Awards. The Awards Committee investigates potential nominees, secures biographical data, presents candidate names for the advice and consent of EXCOM during the Spring Meeting Series, and obtains the plaque for presentation at the Annual General Meeting.

Awards

  • Outstanding Contributions Award

    The Outstanding Contributions Award is EOS/ESD Association, Inc.’s most prestigious award. It is awarded to an individual who has made significant impact in the field of EOS/ESD through technical achievement or has made major contributions to either the development or the operation of EOS/ESD Association, Inc. Potential candidates for the Outstanding Contributions Award are not required to be members of EOS/ESD Association, Inc.. The final selection is approved by EXCOM. Recipient Criteria as follows:

    • Mandatory Requirements
      • Must have been actively involved in ESD for greater than 5 years.
      • Served on:
        • TPC
        • Session Chair
        • Workshops
        • Standards or
        • Other Association Committee
      • Tutored, mentored or asked to be a consultant by others.
      • Is recognized for excellence by others.
      • Recognized for technical achievements in own area of ESD.
      • Consistent and continuous contributions.
    • Final Selection:
      • Initiated a new branch of ESD (new topics or fields of interests).
      • Pioneering work that led to other industry technology advances.

    The Awards Committee Chairperson and/or the President of EOS/ESD Association, Inc. will present the Outstanding Contributions Award.

    *Note: Recipients of the Outstanding Contributions Award also receive complimentary EOS/ESD Association, Inc. Lifetime Membership.

  • Founders Award

    The Founders Award is presented to a member or former member of EOS/ESD Association, Inc. who was involved in the formation and growth of our organization or the EOS/ESD Symposium.

  • Industry Pioneer Award

    The Industry Pioneer Award is presented to individuals who have made major contributions in the development of EOS/ESD theory, products, standards or other related fields of interest.

  • Industry Contribution Award

    The Industry Contribution Award is presented to a company that has made significant contributions to the industry overall while supporting EOS/ESD Association, Inc.

  • Joel Weidendorf Memorial Standards Award

    The Joel Weidendorf Memorial Standards Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of EOS/ESD Association, Inc. standards.

  • The David Barber Sr. Memorial (Symposium) Award

    The David Barber Sr. Memorial Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development, organization, management, and growth of the EOS/ESD Symposium. The candidate for this award is chosen by the Symposium Business Unit Manager and current General Chair, and is presented at the annual volunteer recognition event.

  • Ed Weggeland Memorial Recognition Award

    The Ed Weggeland Memorial Recognition Award is presented to individuals and/or companies who have demonstrated exemplary dedication to EOS/ESD Association, Inc. through continuous support of programs, leadership in the various committees, and, above all, for making indelible contributions to the management of the organization.

  • EOS/ESD Association, Inc. Presidents Award

    The Presidents Award is presented in recognition of significant contributions, leadership, and management that has enhanced EOS/ESD Association, Inc. operations and effectiveness in serving industries and the organization.

  • Volunteer Merit Award — Volunteers Recognizing Volunteers

    The Volunteer Merit Award is to recognize the dedication, exemplary effort, and/or outstanding participation of an EOS/ESD Association, Inc. volunteer in regard to the development and promulgation of our organization’s activities and committee work with the nominations coming from volunteer peers.

  • EOS/ESD Symposium Paper Awards

    The Outstanding Paper Award is the most prestigious paper award of the EOS/ESD Symposium. The awarded paper is chosen from all of the presented papers and is based on attendee votes.

    The Best Paper Award is chosen from all of the presented papers at the EOS/ESD Symposium by the Technical Paper Committee within the Awards Committee. Papers are recommended for award by EOS/ESD Symposium Sub-Committee Chairs. Each paper or presentation recommended for an award is evaluated and voted on by each committee member. The paper with the highest average score then receives the award.

    The Best Student Paper Award is chosen from all of the student presented papers at the EOS/ESD Symposium by the Technical Paper Committee within the Awards Committee. Student papers are recommended for this award by EOS/ESD Symposium Sub-Committee Chairs. Each student paper or presentation recommended for the award is evaluated and voted on by each committee member. The paper with the highest average score then receives the award.
