David E. Swenson
(Instructor)David E. Swenson retired from 3M after 35 years of service in 2003. The majority of his career involved electrostatic investigation, solutions to static problems, and related new product development. After retirement, Swenson and his wife, Geri, established Affinity Static Control Consulting, LLC, to offer electrostatic solutions to industry. He has been a member of the ESD Association since 1984 and has served as Symposium General Chairman, Sr. Vice President (twice), President (1998 and 1999), and has been elected to the Board of Directors for 5 terms. A long term member of the Standards Committee and Working Group Chair for several activities, Swenson has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers on ionization, packaging materials, triboelectrification, test methods for ESD materials, and ESD control program implementation. He has received the Association’s Outstanding Contributions Award and the Joel P. Weidendorf Memorial Award for service to standards development. David is currently serving as President of the ESD Association.

David Girard
Staticon Support Services, Inc.Certified 2007Dave Girard is currently an ESD Technical Consultant and owner of Staticon Support Services, Inc., located in Tampa, Florida.
For the past few years, he has been deeply involved in the ESD standards development process. He has supported numerous ESD Association Working Groups in addition to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and provided feedback to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) on specifications containing ESD requirements.
Dave previously ran the Honeywell Aerospace corporate ESD program in addition to the site ESD program in Clearwater, Florida. Throughout his career, Dave has held various positions in Electronics Test, Reliability Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Quality Management.
Dave has been a member of the ESD Association since 1987. He has been an iNARTE Certified Electrostatic Discharge Engineer since 1995. He is a senior member of both the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He is also ASQ certified in both Quality Engineering and Quality Auditing.
Dave has a B.S.E. degree in Engineering from the University of South Florida.

Hologic, Inc.Certified 2014David Kirk is currently a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Hologic, Inc. Newark, DE site; starting in 2008. David holds a BSEE from Drexel University, and is currently working to establish a sound ESD program for manufacture of cutting edge mammography x-ray detectors, based on thin film transistor arrays on glass substrate. Similar to the flat panel display industry, this process has many challenges for ESD control and mitigation. David has recently joined WG-21 to further the science of ESD in flat panel technology.
David was formerly employed by Agilent and HP for a combined 31 years, where he was involved in new product design; test, and manufacturing engineering.
David and his wife have 3 sons, 3 daughters in law, and 5 grandchildren. He enjoys playing several musical instruments, woodworking, and hiking-camping.

Earning more than 20 years of engineering experience in electronics manufacturing, RF & microwave assembly & test, HDDA and optoelectronics assembly.
Armed with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Dennis advanced to build his knowledge in Metrology, Cleanroom Management and Equipment Engineering. Dennis is also an iNARTE Certified ESD Engineer.
For leisure, Dennis enjoys fishing, gardening and spends his free time outdoors as a drone pilot and nature photographer.

Dongsun Kim received a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science Engineering from Korea University in Seoul, Korea.

Douglas Miller
Sandia National LaboratoriesCertified 2005Doug Miller received an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of New Mexico in 1994 and a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1982. During this time, he earned Alpha Phi Sigma and Sigma Pi Sigma Scholastic Membership.
From ‘85 to ‘91, he was employed by defense contractors BDM Corporation, BDMMSC, and UIE. During this time, he was fully engaged in strategic defense initiative projects, small business innovative research prototype development, electrical overstress analysis of weapon systems, and operation, maintenance, and testing of weapon systems.
In 1993, he joined the Pantex Plant work force as an employee for Battelle Memorial Institute, where he was responsible for developing and disseminating electrical safety policy, and evaluation of facilities, equipment, testers, and manufacturing processes in nuclear explosive safety areas. He developed and provided demonstrations to customers, as well, as training classes for engineers and technicians. He was a technical advisor to national study groups and management. Since working at the Pantex Plant, he has been awarded the Defense Programs Award of Excellence, the Pantex Scientific Advancement Award, and twice awarded the Pantex Key Contributor Award.
In 2001, he transitioned to BWXT Pantex as a Section Engineer, where he provided technical and management leadership for the nuclear explosive electrical safety program at Pantex. He mentored and managed Pantex electrical engineers on the art of nuclear weapon electrical safety. He provided policy interpretation, management system design and implementation, guidance to engineers and technicians, customer service, and informational briefings. He was a qualified voting nuclear explosive safety study group member. Also, he was an advisor or member in numerous nuclear explosive safety studies and DOE explosive safety committee meetings. He was a subject matter expert for nuclear explosive safety study groups, explosive safety committees, defense nuclear safety facility boards, and the DOE. He created, produced, and managed computer modeling, analysis, and approvals for electrical concerns in Nuclear Explosive Areas.
In 2004, he became a technical staff member for Sandia National Laboratories located at the Pantex Tri-Laboratory Office. There he functions as a quality engineer for nuclear weapons manufacturing, surveillance, assembly of flight test units, assembly of laboratory test units, and laboratory testing of test units for all of the nuclear weapons programs. Mr. Miller serves as a qualified voting nuclear explosive safety study group member and electrostatic discharge control management expert advisor for nuclear explosive safety studies.
Outside of work he enjoys supporting and working with grade school and high school children in sports, religion, and arts. Doug and his wife, Julie, have been married for 20 years and have four children, one in high school and three in grade school.
