Dale Parkin

Dale P"It is enjoyable working with a diverse group of people from around the world who share the same interest in ESD."

Dale has been employed by Seagate Technology LLC since 2007. He is the Shakopee Site ESD Coordinator and runs the Corporate ESD Material Test Laboratory.

Previously, Dale worked for IBM for 33 years where he was the IBM Corporate Standards Project Authority (SPA) for Electrostatic Discharge Protection (ESDP). Dale was part of a team that wrote IBM's Corporate ESD Standards, He also wrote the ESD procedures for IBM's Rochester site. Dale co-authored two technical disclosures and was the author and co-author of numerous papers on ESD which were presented within IBM. He also co-authored papers that were presented at the 1995 EOS/ESD Symposium, 2004 EOS/ESD Symposium and 2006 EOS/ESD Symposium. Dale is an iNARTE Certified ESD Engineer.

Dale told us about how he first became a working group chair, "I was a member of WG 9 - Footwear. I came earlier to STDCOM meeting with Joel Weidendorf (Standards Chair at the time) and he put up a foil/transparency (the way we did it in the old days) with a list of the WG chairs to see how it looked, he had my name listed by Footwear. I told him that I was not the chairman, just a member of the WG and he looked at the list and then back at me and said "You are now". 

In 2007, Dale was awarded the David Barber Sr. Memorial Award for his contribution to the development, organization, management, and growth of the EOS/ESD Symposium.

As an active member of the North Central ESD Chapter, Dale has served on the chapters Board of Directors and is presently the National Delegate Involved in the Regional ESD regional tutorial that the Local chapter co-hosted with the ESDA.

In the past, Dale has served the North Central Local chapter as President, Vice President, and Program Chairman.

DaleDianeDale and his wife Diane have been married 31 years and live in Rochester, MN. They have one son Eric and a daughter in-law Anna. Eric and Anna have two puppies Mijo & Miley, who are also a part of the family. Dale and Diane enjoy traveling whenever possible. Their travels have taken them to Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Caribbean, as well as many places around the US. Dale enjoys working on the family genealogy, and has been researching the families roots for nearly 20 years. "It has been very interesting understanding where my and Diane's families came from and what they have gone through."
