Threshold November-December 2022

Volume 39, No. 6 November/December 2022 THRESHOLD TM Dear Colleagues, Friends, and ESD Enthusiasts, On behalf of EOS/ESD Association, Inc. and the 2022 Symposium Steering Committee, I would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the volunteers and our Operations Staff of the EOS/ESD Association, Inc., making the 44 th Annual EOS/ESD Symposium and Exhibits at The Peppermill Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada, a great success. “Thank You” also to all attendees and our exhibitors, either being in person on-site in Reno or connecting from anywhere in the world remotely. Without the EOS/ESD experts contributing and attending the conference, the Symposium would not be the leading inter- national event for professionals in academia and industry on EOS/ESD topics. Although Covid-19 is still impacting business everywhere and we had to continue with the hybrid format for the 3 rd year in a row, we had a large number of colleagues and peers from industry and academia attending the symposium on-site in Reno. This is certainly a remarkable turn out of attendees and shows the value of our esteemed symposium. Beyond the change of the platform, in the 44 th EOS/ESD Symposium, the Steering Committee and the Symposium Strat- egy Team have completely re-structured the program. Instead of the traditional sessions, the program was organized now in five focus areas, each with a program of 1-1.5 days. The focus areas were Advanced Technologies and Device Testing, Automotive, Communications, Mixed Voltage Applications, and, as in the last years, EMC. Each focus area comprises one or several sessions with technical papers, invited talks, tutorials, seminars, and workshops. For the first time, the Symposium started on Monday and was, therefore, one day longer than in the past, allowing more time for program and discussion. In parallel, for the fifth time, the “Manufacturing Track” offers full 3.5 days of technical sessions, hands-on sessions, workshops, discussion groups, and technology showcases in the field of EOS/ESD in manufacturing – control materials, technologies, and techniques. With the very positive feedback of the attendees, the Steering Committee and the Symposium Strategy Team will con- tinue to follow this similar approach for the 2023 EOS/ESD Symposium. I cannot wait to see all of you and many other colleagues in person at the next EOS/ESD Symposium at the Riverside Convention Center, Riverside, California!
