Cheryl Checketts

checketts sizedDecember’s Volunteer Spotlight is Cheryl Checketts. Checketts has been a part of her local chapter for approximately 13 years. In that time she has held almost all board positions in the local chapter. She became a member of the ESD Association approximately 12 years ago when she began attending the standards working groups. She has gone on to sit on several working groups, the Standards Committee, and, as of about five years ago, the Symposium Steering Committee.

Educational and professional background

Checketts originally started electronics training in the USAF and later earned her AASET after beginning work at Motorola. “When I started working in the ESD group, my mentor was Bob Parr, I learned a lot from him. I also took most of the tutorials the ESDA presents,” said Checketts. “Plus sitting in the working group meetings is an education in itself.” she added.

Personal information, interests, and hobbies

Benefits of being an ESDA volunteer

"The time I have spent working with the ESDA has given me a larger perspective on ESD problems and how they affect different industries," said Checketts. "I have found that the solutions to ESD problems are limited to the amount of creative people placed in a position to solve them."
