ESDA Spotlight

Kay Adams

Kay Adams is the founder of Tech Wear which was started in 1986. The company manufactures static control garments. Kay has two patents used for the grounding ESD garments and has designed several innovations in the development of garments.

Becoming a member of the ESD Association in 1989, Kay has been on the Garment Standard Committee ever since. Kay served as the Chair of the Garment Working Group for several years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the association from 1999 to 2007. She filled several positions during those years including Local Chapters, Volunteer Activities, Sr. VP and President. Kay was a member of the Southern California Local Chapter while it was an active chapter.

“Being a volunteer with ESDA has given me the opportunity to meet and work with many wonderful people and get to know them on a personal level. I have learned the value of working with a team, each of us supporting the other while we accomplish goals.” said Kay.

“Serving as the President of ESDA was one of the biggest challenges of my professional career, but was also one of the most rewarding. I was fortunate to have a team of committed and loyal people who shared my vision and goals for the ESDA. Seeing those goals accomplished still brings a smile to my face and a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.”

Kay brings a special life to the Association, whether she is part of an ESDA swim team or singing a “turkey song”; there is never a dull moment with Kay on board.

Kay has two children, Kerry and Chris, who work with her at Tech Wear. She also has two grandchildren and enjoys watching their participation in sports. Other hobbies and interests include reading, swimming, having parties, and family get-togethers at her lake home in Minnesota.
